Shannon is a major catalyst for network growth, and we want to set up the ecosystem for success. Three areas within Morse that we can improve through parameter changes are:

The Source Awakens is about allowing POKT to start incentivizing Sources within Morse. This directly incentivizes chains/rollups/indexes, etc., to drive demand to POKT gateways, as they will begin to collect Source rewards. This can prepare POKT Network for the Shannon transition and drive new narratives and adoption within Morse, as this is a new business model to open source that POKT Network is pioneering.
To enable Source rewards in Morse, I am proposing we change the Block Reward from
DAO = 10% and Supplier = 80%
to
DAO = 20% and Supplier = 70%
The increased DAO percentage will be earmarked for Source rewards, but any of the increased DAO share that is not distributed to Sources - as they have not yet onboarded or agreed to become partners, etc. - will be sent to a separate standalone pool for Shannon contributors.
For Sources, PNF will be able to start partnering with Sources and process their rewards manually (similar to how PNF processes gateway burns manually). With the Shannon upgrade, payouts will become automated and on-chain.
We see the Shannon incentives pool as a temporary boost that will slowly be reduced as all the major Sources of demand for POKT become integrated.
